Welcome to my Annecy Blog!

The most beautiful letter box in the area!

I believe the most beautiful letter box is in Bluffy, 58 route des Dents de Lanfon. Bluffy is well know by cyclists who enjoy going up to Col de Bluffy. It is also not far from Menthon St Bernard's Castle, so if you are going to visit the Castle, going up to Col de Forlcaz or going to Thônes, please have a photo stop there!!! It is a typical local wooden little chalet with many little santons. Santons are showing you how people were here hundreds years ago.

Rumilly's pond

Rumilly is a city approximately 20km away from Annecy. It has some big companies as Tefal (Seb), Nestlé or Vulli (Sophie the giraf). In the small Old Town of Rumilly, you can enjoy a walk under the arches, on Thursday there is a market. The pond is really lovely for a quiet walk or a run as you can go around it under the forest. Next to it, you will find a Karting and the Chéran river. Also another pond for fishing. During the summer, you can also go swimming but the water is not really clear. There is a playground for kids, a snack bar, toilets and showers. Free parking.

The traditional Opinel knife has a beechwood handle and a high carbon steel blade. Opinel is a company that has manufactured and marketed a line of self-named knives since 1890 from its headquarters in St Jean de Maurienne (Savoie), where the family run company also operates a museum dedicated to its knives. The company sells approximately 15 million knives annually. Originally sold a a working man's knife, the Opinel knife has become emblematic of French (specially Savoie) culture. And you can find it in most houses in the area, in the kitchen, workshops etc Pablo Picasso was using one of them as sculpting tool. Joseph Opinel began making knives in 1890 as a simple working man's or peasant'

Paragliding Photos

My favourite Monchu (tourist in patois Savoyard) went paragliding a few weeks ago. Marty is happy to share his wonderful experience and photos with you. He used Les Passagers du Vent https://www.lespassagersduvent.com/ and his pilot was Pépé. Merci Marty!
